Connecting Individual Growth with School Improvement: How Infocare Built AISG’s Growth & Reflection Hub

Customer story

Professional growth in schools involves much more than completing an annual form.

At the American International School of Guangzhou (AISG), reflection, professional goals, observations, evidence, professional learning and school improvement are all parts of a wider approach to continuous growth.

The challenge was bringing those elements together.

Working closely with AISG, Infocare developed the Growth & Reflection Hub — a purpose-built platform designed around the school’s own frameworks, language and professional growth processes.

The result is more than a move from paper to digital. It is one connected environment linking individual professional growth, collaborative learning and school improvement.

“We didn’t want to simply digitise a set of forms. We wanted to connect the way we think about professional growth with the way we think about school improvement. Working with Infocare has allowed us to build around our own language, frameworks and processes — making individual, PLC, divisional and schoolwide goals more visible, while bringing reflection, evidence, professional learning and dialogue into one connected space. The efficiency is important, but the real value is being able to see how individual growth contributes to our collective work.”

01

From fragmented processes to one connected experience

Like many schools, AISG had professional growth processes distributed across forms, documents, emails and separate workflows.

The opportunity was not simply to recreate those forms online.

AISG wanted the technology to reflect how it believes professional growth actually happens: as an ongoing cycle of reflection, goal setting, action, evidence, feedback, professional dialogue and continued learning.

Its Teacher Growth & Reflection Framework, for example, is explicitly designed as an ongoing, cyclical process, providing shared language and transparent structures for professional growth while aligning practice with AISG’s Transformative Learning Framework.

Infocare worked with AISG to translate that philosophy into the structure and workflows of the platform.

Today, staff can access their frameworks, complete reflections, develop goals, record evidence and revisit their growth over time. Leaders can review and support that work, while tasks, notifications and approval processes make responsibilities and next steps clearer.

This reduces administrative friction while creating a much more coherent experience for staff and leaders.

02

One platform, different professional pathways

A particularly important aspect of the project was that AISG did not want a single generic evaluation framework.

The school has developed Growth & Reflection frameworks for different professional groups, including teachers, educational assistants, academic and operational leaders, and operational teams such as HR, IT, office administration, and marketing and communications.

Each recognises the expertise and responsibilities of that role, while maintaining shared language around reflection, collaboration, evidence, professional learning, growth and impact.

Infocare therefore needed to create a platform flexible enough to accommodate different professional pathways while maintaining a consistent experience across the organisation.

This role-aware approach means staff engage with the framework and processes relevant to them, while AISG maintains a coherent schoolwide approach to professional growth.

03

Connecting individual growth to collective priorities

One of the most significant elements of the Hub is the visibility it creates between different levels of improvement.

AISG can bring schoolwide goals, divisional goals and Professional Learning Community (PLC) goals into the same environment as individual professional growth.

This creates a visible line of sight:

Schoolwide priorities → Divisional priorities → PLC goals → Individual growth

The purpose is not to make every goal the same. Individual growth still needs to respond to a person’s role, evidence and professional context.

Instead, visibility helps people understand how their work contributes to something larger.

For teachers, AISG’s framework describes meaningful goals as grounded in evidence of student learning, focused on improving outcomes and aligned with wider AISG priorities.

The Hub makes those relationships more transparent. An individual can better understand how their professional inquiry connects with the work of their PLC. A PLC can see its work in relation to divisional priorities. Leaders can see where individual and collaborative professional learning is contributing to broader school improvement.

For AISG, this transparency is an important part of moving from individual growth toward collective impact.

04

Keeping Transformative Learning visible

Another important requirement was that the platform feel unmistakably connected to AISG.

The school’s Transformative Learning Framework — Engagement for All — provides common language around Being, Connecting and Doing, shaping the learning experiences AISG seeks to create across the school.

AISG’s professional frameworks connect the growth of educators and leaders back to that larger purpose. For teachers, the relationship is explicit: the Growth & Reflection Framework aligns teaching practice with AISG’s mission, vision and Transformative Learning Framework.

Rather than imposing a generic professional development model, Infocare has enabled AISG’s own language, frameworks and priorities to become part of the digital experience.

That distinction has been central to the partnership:

the technology adapts to the school’s approach, rather than asking the school to adapt its approach to the technology.

05

Efficiency that creates space for better conversations

There is also a straightforward operational benefit.

Bringing reflection, goals, evidence, observations, professional development and approval workflows together reduces duplicated administration and manual handoffs.

Staff have a clear place to see their own growth journey. Supervisors can identify what needs attention. Records remain connected across the year rather than being reconstructed from different documents and email threads.

But the purpose of that efficiency is not simply to save time.

It is to create more space for the parts of professional growth that technology cannot provide: reflection, coaching, feedback, collaboration and professional dialogue.

AISG’s frameworks deliberately place these human interactions at the centre of growth. Teacher development, for example, is strengthened through coaching conversations, peer observation, professional learning communities and reflective dialogue.

The Hub manages more of the process around those conversations so that the conversations themselves can remain the focus.

06

From managing forms to seeing growth

As the platform develops, its value also extends beyond workflow.

Bringing goals and growth processes into one environment gives AISG greater visibility into where professional learning is happening across the organisation.

It enables different questions to be asked:

Where are common areas of professional focus emerging? Where are individual goals aligning around a PLC or divisional priority? Where might additional professional learning be valuable? Where does expertise already exist within the organisation that could be shared?

Those questions are difficult to answer when professional growth exists across disconnected documents.

A connected platform makes them increasingly possible.

For Infocare, the AISG Growth & Reflection Hub demonstrates what can happen when technology is built around a school’s educational philosophy rather than simply around its administrative processes.

For AISG, it means moving from multiple processes and records toward something much more powerful:

one connected view of how individuals, teams and the school are growing together.

Individual Growth. Collective Impact.
